"A year ago, we were in complete despair. It had become very clear that our 32 year old son was in deep trouble, and needed help. A family friend referred us to Howard Samuels and the staff of The Hills. With their assistance and advice, we were able to finally get our son into treatment (it took 4 months of agony before that happened, but the people at The Hills advised us all along the way.)
Our son is bi-polar, a drug addict and alcoholic. Dual-diagnosis is a particular challenge and we found the recovery program at The Hills addressed all his issues and gave him the tools he needed to get his life back on track. Today, our son is on the road to recovery and knows that The Hills is always there for him, and for us.
We cannot express our gratitude enough to all of the many people who helped our son find a new life, Howard, Jorja, Bruce, Oren, Colby, Hope, Crystal, all the staff members who gave of themselves to assist."
Thank you everyone!

"My husband received treatment at The Hills for alcohol and drug addiction in the Summer of 2010. The amazing team of people who work at the hills...Bruce Turner, Howard Samuels, Jorja Davis, Colby, Oren, Colman, just to name a few, banded together and created a web of support, education and love towards my husband and my entire family. On Saturday's we would do family group and meet other people who were experiencing the same situations. It was a safe place of sharing, learning and where I ended up realizing that I had plenty of work to do on myself. Through the AA program and Alanon we have rebuilt our home, marriage and family and are so grateful for everything we experienced and learned at The Hills. We will forever be grateful to the wonderful support team there, who now feel more like family to us."

"The extraordinary staff at The Hills produces a weekly family session that is the most comprehensive and quality educational program regarding addiction we have ever experienced. After years of confusion and some seriously bad advice from other professionals, we have chosen to follow the guidance of The Hills’ staff in exploring our own co-dependency and the vital need to attend Al-Anon routinely. With the education and support The Hills and Al-Anon have provided, we have received an enormous amount of relief and release. We no longer believe that we are responsible for our son’s recovery or relapse; we no longer believe “if we had only done this or that…..” it would not have happened; we no longer believe that “if we just give in on this one thing he will be alright”.

"We now know that our role is to find independence/appropriate boundaries and to love our son, but not love him to death. We can be a part of his recovery but never a willing part of his disease. In order to attain a healthy and balanced life, we, along with our son, must work our program continuously throughout our lives to give us the best chance against our relapse into co-dependency and his relapse into active addiction."

"The journey is still ongoing, but the understanding that has come as a result of the educational process at The Hills has made us stronger, more balanced and peaceful as opposed to the emotional chaos, crisis and never-ending torment we were experiencing as we first walked in those doors when our son was admitted for heroin and alcohol addiction."

"The Hills has helped me to address my issues, given me the tools to triumph over my challenges and taught me how to live life sober and enjoy it! I will be forever grateful to The Hills and the gifts I have been given; a second chance at life, a stable sober community, a strong foundation, and a place to call home."
